The soldier stared at the corpse of the dead civilian and children. Time seemed to slowed down and the din of battle hushed into a whisper of insignificance. As one trained with the ways of a killer, he too has committed atrocities in the name of justice. Never once did that made him paused, let alone blink. But killing the innocent, killing those that could not fight back, was something else entirely. This is dishonouring.
This is cruelty.
His number shook him, and his senses returns to the battle at hand.
